Local Delicacies @ Sibu, Sarawak

A friend wedding reception has brought me and my husband to the other side of Malaysia, Sibu, Sarawak.

My husband's boss has given him a guide to find local delicacies and as such our food conquest begins in Sibu.

The main 4 types of local delicacies recommended were Kampua, Pian Sip, Dian Bian Hu, and Kompia.

The very first local delicacies we had was this ... Kampua.

1. Kampua (FuZhou Noodle) - Dry noodle with marinated minced pork & Char Siew.
2. Pian Sip (Slightly smaller than the Wanton in west Malaysia)

Almost every stall in Sibu you can find Kampua, it is a noodle that FuZhou people like a lot...

I personally like the taste of the Pian Sip (Wanton), the wanton skin have smooth texture and the filling is tasty.

You can try their "Special Tea" as well .. not bad.. Not sure is it with Gula Melaka or not (but a bit pandan taste).. really special

This shop is located near the market area, forgot the kopitiam name..

Below is the picture of the stall..

Next Stop:
Our friend's family brought us for lunch on our last day in Sibu. This kopitiam is located at Ulu Sg Merah, which is nearby Wonderful Supermarket

I forgot to take a picture of the restaurant.. But opposite the shop is really amazing.. One Piece!! haha

We tried others local delicacies here too, like...

 3. Kompia (FuZhou Snack)

Kompia can be eaten just like that (Plain) or you can try with minced pork... The ones with minced pork is also known as "FuZhou Burger"

4. Dian Bian Hu (Looks like Pan Mee, hehe)

We were told that the methodology in making Dian Bian Hu is very different...

Surprisingly you can also get Pat Chan in the Kopitiam ^^ And its taste good...

We did taste other types of Kampua here too =) But I prefer the Kampua near the market ealier..

Next Stop:
Green Cafe near Hotel Kingwood..

5. Chicken Thread Noodle Soup with ginger and wine..

Next Stop:
Hotel Kingwood

6. Sarawak Laksa

And the last but not least..

7. Fish Burger, SugarBun (Lots of franchise)

Sibu is a very small town but you can find lots nice food around...

Have a visit there and do try all this fantastic local delicacies... Enjoy :)

You can choose to sit inside or outside (near the parking lot)...

Some locals recommend to try thier cham peng too (Iced Coffee + Tea)

Compare to others Hokkien Prawn Mee, this is not too oily and simply delicious...
You can add some fish ball/ meat ball/ pork ribs/ utensils to your Hokkien Prawn Mee/ Lor Mee.
